Rusty Barnhill Different Strokes for Different Folks
December 30th, 2011
Rusty Barnhill Many of you who frequent this blog almost certainly know about our main, e-commerce website: FireFold. It is a very popular page and attracts many people to our Concord Mills area store front warehouse. Great prices, a variety of products, and superb customer service all contribute to this celebrity. In an older post I made mention of our search engine optimization (SEO) services; the purpose being, or course, to let the people know that we aren’t just a store but a service provider as well. With that said, I would like to inform y’all about our other, lesser known sites that may have a solution for you.
The first of the two unknown websites that I will speak about is FireFold Tech. This site serves as a virtual HQ for our in-house computer technicians, who are professional and certified servicemen; they take your calls, will run to your house, and will say “Have a nice day!” as they return your machine back, fully operational. This site is a great resource for understanding how our solutions will work for you. Whether you need a network installation or you’re needing to back up data remotely, this page has the information you need.
The second site of the two is for installations: FireFold A/V. As the premier seller of HDMI cables and home theater equipment it’s only right if we dedicate a website to the application of this equipment. FireFold AV is a site for those looking to upgrade their setup. From “Planning & Designing” to “Whole House Audio” there is information available to help you make the right decision for your space.
As you can see from the above reading, Google ain’t the only one servicing up!
I Want YOU For Audience Analysis
December 29th, 2011
Rusty Barnhill Seeing as this is a blog, it’s always nice (see: productive) to have a grasp on the kinds of people who read it. As I am typing articles on a computer–in an office (betcha thought I did this in my PJs
)–being able to classify who is most likely interested in the content, from the various freaks individuals that populate the internet, is key. The problem then becomes twofold: 1) identifying a target demographic and 2) creating a persona that can effectively hit that demographic.
Alexa is a website that ranks and provides analyses for web sites. Typing in our URL brings up some interesting stats:“Based on internet averages, firefold.com is visited more frequently by males who are in the age range 45-54, are college educated and browse this site from work.” The first thing to consider is the accuracy of this census. Next is crafting a persona to make the content relevant to this demographic. In regards to the former, a poll will be provided, and to the latter, well–just stay tuned!
What Do We Think? We Think It’s Good

The future is in the cloud.
Don’t believe me? Well, Google offers a service called Google Wallet and its aim is to make your physical wallet disappear (“We’re Building a Better Wallet”). Essentially, one signs up using their Google account to input their information and store that data in one of Google’s servers. This data can then be accessed by your phone or computer (or I suppose any hardware that is capable of connecting to the Internet and running software) and used to make purchases. Having this information stored with Google allows one to have access to thousands of stores with a single log in. With a phone that has this app on it, purchasing is as easy as tapping your card on a MasterCard PayPass Receiver. Offers and rewards automatically transfer to this app and a lock feature enables privacy in case the phone (or wallet as they would have you believe) is stolen or lost.
At a glance, it appears that this (Google) and other companies are simply looking to mine data–which they are, but this service seems to be worth the signup. The reasoning is this, people shop online; in fact, online shopping has absolutely boomed, which means that many people’s credit card numbers have already been used and an index on their shopping habits started. To go with this is social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc) which log your personal information. This all means that the surface layer of who you are is likely in the a cloud somewhere. A service that looks to use data that is likely already out there, in an efficient, secure, and convenient way, looks to be worthwhile.
At FireFold, we pride ourselves in customer service; from savings opportunities, to shipping, and helpful staff, we look to make your shopping experience a pleasant one. Check out Google Wallets for yourself and consider if it would be a better way for you to shop with us. Whatever feedback you have share it with us on Facebook, Twitter, or on here
