Fox 18 Charlotte decided to pay a visit to FireFold last week to discuss a new website called Ziggs.com.

The website allows members to see when they are looked up in Google, and the location they were Googled from. Some internet users were rightly worried about the security of their web browsing, and the experts at FireFold helped explain the issue to Fox’s Morgan Fogarty.

As is mentioned in the report, Ziggs users do not get the ability to see whatever you are Googling, but merely a notice from Ziggs that gives a time and approximate location of anyone who searches for them specifically. Essentially, they will know if someone is trying to find information about them, but not who is searching, or what they are trying to find.

The only information Google gives to Ziggs.com is your IP address, which is a temporary identifier used online to allow other PCs to find you. This information can be exploited in some instances, but the Ziggs.com platform is relatively harmless, especially compared to many other websites who can exploit your IP address directly.
