burnie_smallIf you don’t know who Burnie is, he is our iconic mascot that you may have seen gracing the pages of FireFold.com. He might just be another cool flame to some, but to us he is synonymous with everything the company stands for, and he is a crucial part of our team. Burnie is an inspiration to his fellow employees, and most of us here will tell you, that we could not imagine our workplace without him.

There was a time when Burnie wasn’t so gainfully employed as he is today. In the past, he had struggled to make his mark in the media and entertainment world. Burnie was featured on television reality shows like Survivor and Man vs. Wild, where he often played the part of a small campfire. In 2008, he got on with the reality show Hell’s Kitchen. When reflecting on those days, Burnie says that Bear Grills is quite a pleasure to work with. But while working on the Hell’s Kitchen show, he was often told that he was either too hot or too cold, and one day Burnie just exploded and walked off the set, smoking mad. “Truth be told,” says Burnie, “I really didn’t like being confined to a kitchen, and was bored with staring at the underside of pots and pans all day.”

Burnie dreamed of producing and starring in his own show. After multiple rejections by network big-wigs, Burnie’s hopes were ultimately extinguished. So how did Burnie ultimately hook up with the FireFold team you ask?

Well, Burnie has a passion for nitro drag racing, and in June 2009 he was spotted at a racing event by FireFold’s marketing manager, Jennie Burns. Jennie approached Burnie, and discovered that he was in between jobs and seemed somewhat burned out. It just so happened, that FireFold was in need of someone to personify the brand. Burnie, with his fiery personality, seemed like a natural fit with the FireFold name.

The future now seems bright and red hot for Burnie. FireFold has plans to merge his interest in racing, with the company-sponsored bandolero race car. Company president Christopher Grouse states, “We want Burnie to represent us at the track, as well as at trade shows and other company sponsored events.” With such a magnetic personality, FireFold wants Burnie to be associated with as many PR and Marketing events as possible. In Burnie’s own words, “As far as I’m concerned, FireFold has been the best thing that’s happened to me since fireproof underwear. I hope to have a long future with this exciting company.”
