When we brought on these sexy new media speakers, I knew I had to take home a set and try them out for myself. While I am passionately in love with my new Sony Vaio, the notebook speaker quality leaves quite a bit to be desired. I frequently listen to music and watch movies on my computer, so I needed something to enhance my media enjoyment.

The set comes with a 5” subwoofer and two 3.5” satellite speakers, all magnetically shielded, 40 watts. The subwoofer is powered by an AC adapter; a blue LED light signals the unit is turned on. They are incredibly easy to hook up, even for a neophyte like myself. I placed the subwoofer on the floor under my desk and the satellite speakers on the desktop. The 3.5mm plug snapped right into the headphone jack on my computer and I was good to go. Even when I cranked them up to maximum volume, I heard very little distortion.

The sound quality is amazing for an inexpensive little setup such as this. They retail at FireFold for only $39.99. Right now, as part of a three day sale, you can snag them for only $29.99. They’re perfect for enjoying music and movies. My only complaint is the main power button for the unit is located on the back of the subwoofer, so in order to switch it off, I have to reach all the way around to the back. However, this is a small price to pay for a “home theater” experience, considering the value of the speakers.
